The Most Popular Mobile Games

By Jason Phillips

As technology advances, sophistry of mobile games is rapidly increasing. The majority of the most popular video games now exist in mobile versions. Apple's iPhone was the initial game changer in the mobile entertainment arena and many very popular console games like Fifa, Call of Duty, and Need for Speed may currently played via mobile handsets.

When it comes to mobile games however, the games with versatile play options and impressive visuals, do not have to be the most popular ones. In fact, the mobile games that are very popular, cannot boast of having these attributes. With mobile phone gaming, the games that can be played very quickly as well as frequently enough to allow the user to form an addictive experience, become the most popular. Here are three of the more hugely popular mobile games.

Bejeweled: An old favourite and very simple in itself, the player is required to match gems across horizontal and vertical lines, while the pressure element is added according to the timed play. The game is not complex and doesn't contain stunning visuals, but according to reports, the game has been downloaded more than 150 million times across platforms, since the browser version was launched in 2001.

Angry Birds: Rovio is the creator of this game that enjoys gamer popularity almost equal to that of Bejeweled. This mobile game may be played via both Android and iPhone devices. Like other popular competitors, it is easy to play. All a player must do is destroy invading pigs by using angry birds as living slingshots. Despite this simplicity, this game is so addictive as to induce over 100,000,000 downloads throughout various platforms.

Tetris: This game has been in existence since 1984 and is the oldest of the three. It is similar to Angry Birds, in that it is also a puzzle game. The game has a large following on the Nintendo platform, and has now become extremely successful on mobile phone devices. It is also one of the few mobile games that has been downloaded over 100 million times.
