Using Microsoft Publisher Business Card Templates

By Jeannie Chapman

You never know who can potentially benefit your business. Whether you are at a networking event or chatting with someone at a party it can be surprising who can help you out. Therefore it is important to be prepared. However you do not necessarily need a graphic designer to create an effective business card. Using Microsoft Publisher Business card templates can make this a lot easier.

As the name suggests everything is laid out as you need it. All you need to do is add the details that are applicable to you. The kind of template you use will depend on the product or service that you are offering your potential clients and how you intend to promote yourself to them.

Whatever design you choose you have to consider the relevant information needed. Contact details are essential as this is how people will find your company! While in the past this would have focused mainly on postal addresses and phone numbers increasingly more businesses use social media and promote via a variety of platforms so you may wish to include these details as well.

A double sided design is better suited to people who want to provide additional information. For example you may have a promotion that you want to spread the word about. You can have your contact information on one side and the details of an offer on the other.

Other possible bits of information to include on the back of your card can include website details, short testimonials from clients or even a map showing people where you are located. This is especially useful if you have only recently been established and want people to come and find you.

Whatever design you choose there are certain basics that need to be on there. Contact information is crucial so that people know how to contact you. Remember to double check this before you print your cards to avoid the embarrassment of having to get your pen out and correcting them.

When looking through templates consider the kind of product or service you are offering and whether the template works for it. Brighter colours are often best for companies targeting children or for artistic businesses. However if you are involved with finance or insurance you may want a simpler design with just the logo and contact information in order to give a sleeker and more professional look.

As well as the Microsoft Publisher Business Card templates included with the program there are various websites that provide templates online. It is worth looking at these to see what one is best suited to your business as well as looking for tutorials and feedback to help you make the best design for your company!
