An Android Revolution, What's Your Choice?

By Jeff Wallace

Ask anybody if Android needs a revamp, they will probably say it's fine now. Ever since its inception, Android has completely taken the world of mobile devices by storm. Android continues to improve, as Google invests most back into the research & development. Remember, the most effective aspect of Android is the levels of customizations and that is what allows you to be creative with this unique programming language. A group of developers initiated this discussion in a developers' conference that was held in the second week of December about how they could fundamentally evolve Android application programming language. However, the software is not the only constraint that you have to put up with.

It is not About the Hardware Either

When the time comes to buy an Android device, you obviously look at the hardware specifications of the device. The chip itself, physical memory, storage, resolution on the camera, are all part of the value on that price tag. That's all well and good, but hardware isn't doing the job by itself. You must have the incredible software OS to power the apps and reach the full potential of the phone's ability.

It is the Combination of Hardware and Software

Take a peak at the iPhone for example. The iPhone not only comes with user friendly software but also high class, custom-made hardware. One reason Apple doesn't receive third party hardware or supply its programs to hardware manufacturers is because of Apple's high performance combination. The high performance is not in its hardware or software alone. It is the combination that makes it so desirable. When you look at all of the phones on the market today that are operating on Android, there are some that will make you decide not to own a phone. However, most phones make our lives a lot more mobile and are user friendly.

Android Should Have Set Standards for Hardware and Software

A set standard for the hardware that is used for Android phones should be established. This will ensure that the quality of services and the consumer experience of Android users will not dip below a certain level. Although Google cannot manage to compete with Apple in hardware manufacturing, they can instruct their affiliates like Samsung, HTC, etc, not to release smart phones that fall short of a certain pre-determined level. Therefore the software development will also stay high. You can see the impact this is going to have on Android OS and apps development in your on-line Android training classes.
