Value Of Using A Superior IT Strategy

By Emma Mathers

People are living in an era of technology explosion. Computer networking and telecommunication is therefore an area which cannot be avoided. Such has been used by people in every level of trade and business and has shown great influence in thriving of any one setup. Having an effective IT Strategy on how to lay them in a position for the benefit of the organization is of key importance.

Before a business comes up with a communication network, it is important to identify target group that will benefit from it. It enables a business to identify the right infrastructure to use based on their needs. In case the target group is a local organization, then you should consider using few resources. However, when dealing with a target group that is far away, consider allocating more resources because of its complications. This is because the process will require more expensive resources and equipments.

The size of the organization is a reference for the type of infrastructure to implement. A small organization would do well with a cabled network system. This is because it is easier to maintain such a system and does not require frequent servicing. It does not require highly trained personnel in case of a breakdown so it is also cheap. A larger organization may require both cabled and wireless infrastructure which may prove more efficient due to the large number that is targeted to access the system.

Consider the sensitivity of the information being transmitted. If it is intended for few individuals, then a wireless system has a greater risk of leakage of information. This is due to possibility of hacking. Cabled connection should be used therefore with encryption to reduce chances of falling to the wrong hands. Special devices that encode the data being passed across the system can also be beneficial.

Varying amounts of information is sent via the infrastructure by different firms. A setup that sends large amounts of information should therefore consider using a method that is not easily clogged. Media houses and mobile phone service providers are good examples of these. A system capable of handling a large volume of data in their channels should be preferred.

The cost of operation is also not left out when planning for the suitable system. Specially trained personnel may be required for monitoring of the entire system. The method chosen should therefore not go beyond the means of the organization. Maintenance and manpower resources should be locally available to cut on operational cost.

Consider guidelines and sate laws before choosing a system. These frequencies require an operational permit. Therefore, ensure you have a license to operate it.

Backup measures ought to be laid in place. No system is a hundred percent breakdown proof. When this occurs, there can be loss of valuable information. Therefore a good backup system ought to be in place to prevent such occurrences and to keep the system running when the major one is being restored.

Consider the devices needed by recipient to retrieve the information. It would be of no use to send information which cannot be retrieved by the recipient. Provide devices required for such or use a common method easily retrieved using home appliances. An IT Strategy is vital.
